Bug#568857: using gWaterfall to show the problem
Version: 5.3.0-2 Hi, I was able to reproduce it on a terminal (Sakura) with Awesome WM. It happened only with Linux Libertine Mono O (both regular and italic, but not bold nor italic bold) and Linux Libertine O (only regular) and only when at 14pt. It has apparently been reported also upstream: http://sourceforge.net/p/linuxlibertine/bugs/237/ I'll add there a link to this bug report, as they can find the testing done here useful, and tag this bug as upstream. Hi, Ben. On May 21 2010, Ben Finney wrote: They don't contain the divergent heights and thicknesses that is the behaviour reported in this bug report, so that's a significant difference I suppose. I guess that some bad interaction between GNOME and other applications may be happening. I've had that before. Bug#568857: [Pkg-fonts-devel] Bug#568857: using gWaterfall to show the problem (was: Linux Libertine -- seems to work here)
Hi there. On May 14 2010, Ben Finney wrote: = $ dpkg-query --show --showformat='${Package}: ${Version}\n' ttf-linux-libertine iceweasel libpango1.0-0 iceweasel: 3.5.9-3 libpango1.0-0: 1.28.0-1 ttf-linux-libertine: 4.4.1-4 = No differences here, aside from the fact that I am using experimental's version of iceweasel, but as you are seeing the problem with other programs leads us to know that the problem isn't exactly with iceweasel. I don't see this bug you're referring to, even forcing iceweasel to use Linux Libertine O. So I've installed ‘gwaterfall’ to ensure I'm looking at the actual font. Right. In that program I can select “Linux Libertine O C” (the only entry I have for the Linux Libertine font), Very wrong. I just installed gwaterfall and I can see all the fonts provided: * Linux Biolinum O * Linux Libertine O * Linux Libertine O C Can you reproduce this bug with, say, fontforge's fontimage command? Say: , | fontimage /usr/share/fonts/truetype/linux-libertine/LinLibertineC_Re.ttf ` I've attached to this message another screen shot, of the ‘gwaterfall’ program displaying the font, and circling in red the areas I'm referring to. You can see, by zooming in, that the characters are misaligned with each other at many font sizes. I can't reproduce what you are seeing, but I see that you are (possibly?) using GNOME and I use a barebones environment with only fluxbox and nothing else. Can you still reproduce this with no gnome-settings-daemon Co. running?
