I am using debian-504-powerpc-netinst.iso.
I am using debian-507-powerpc-netinst.iso.
Since I am doing netinst I need a stable installer, testing and sid
installers notoriously break due to being out of sync with the packages
archive.
I probably used a different version of qemu back then but now I have
qemu-system 0.13.0+dfsg-2
OK, I am using 0.12.5+dfsg-3/amd64 from current Sid.
Right now, Debian contains:
% ssh merkel.debian.org dak ls qemu
qemu | 0.9.1-10lenny1 |stable | source, amd64, i386, powerpc,
sparc
qemu | 0.12.5+dfsg-3 | testing | source, amd64, armel, i386,
kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, sparc
qemu | 0.12.5+dfsg-3 | unstable | source, amd64, armel, i386,
kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, sparc
qemu | 0.13.0+dfsg-2 | experimental | source, amd64, armel, i386,
kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, sparc
So you are using the one from experimental.
The installer boots with
qemu-system-ppc -cdrom /media/sdf/debian-504-powerpc-netinst.iso -boot d
Thanks, I forgot the -boot d part and now surprisingly yes it works...
W00t! Yaboot on OldWorld! I am guessing it is a magical wonder from
OpenBIOS. :]
but with
qemu-system-ppc -cdrom /media/sdf/debian-504-powerpc-netinst.iso -boot d
-nographic
I do not get to the installer.
Indeed.
I think this was actually a qemu issue because previously I would not
get tot the yaboot prompt at all but now I get to loading the kernel.
OpenBIOS is probably the culprit too.
I am reopening this bug and reassigning it to QEmu, just to let the
QEmu maintainers team know about it. I am sure Aurélien Jarno has
some clue. :]
Cheers,
