The minimum version is python-gtk2 (>= 2.16), at least. That's why I asked
you to try.

Backporting packages is not so simple, sometimes ;)

Kindly,
David

I guessed something similar

Unfortunately python-gtk2_2.17.0-4 requires dozens of other packages
to upgrade.
I don't plan to change my system to sqeeze Yet. :)

I tried to upgrade some packages in a chrooted snapshot environment
step-by-step but I lost in the maze.

IMHO if you specify a minimal version number in dependencies
you cannot be wrong.

AFAICT, set_tooltip_text is only present in GTK >= 2.16.

What happens if you also install python-gtk2 from Squeeze?

If it fixes that for you, I'll fix the dependency.

Thank you,
David

2010-09-20 Thread Gabor Kiss
Package: xpn
Version: 1.2.6-5
Severity: normal

After installing python-support_1.0.10 and xpn_1.2.6-5 on my lenny
I got this error message:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/share/xpn/xpn.py", line 2913, in
main=MainWin(options.use_home,options.custom_dir)
File "/usr/share/xpn/xpn.py", line 2640, in __init__
self.trayicon.set_tooltip_text(_("XPN Newsreader"))
AttributeError: 'gtk.StatusIcon' object has no attribute 'set_tooltip_text'

Meanwhile all dependencies are satisfied.
