Since this change I'm getting: # logrotate /etc/logrotate.conf error: puppetmaster:1 duplicate log entry for /var/log/puppet/masterhttp.log due to /var/log/puppet/*log in /etc/logrotate.d/puppet and /var/log/puppet/masterhttp.log in /etc/logrotate.d/puppetmaster both on the same machine refer to the same logfile. Running: mv /etc/logrotate.d/puppetmaster /etc/logrotate.d/puppetmaster.disabled works around this issue. BTW: I'd also vote for checking the initfiles with [ -x ... ] within /etc/logrotate.d/puppet so if the init script(s) doesn't have execute flags it's not trying to be executed.
