Did you ever get a chance to try the various suggestions?

Bug#611285: no sound in mednafen :(

2011-01-28 Thread yellow protoss
Hello

I will do that too this weekend.
To get sound back i have to reboot pc. It seems that after mplayer or
others, then mednafen is put away from alsa anylonger. only reboot can let
im have music, but after forget :(

Another questoin. My X11 crashes when mednafen runs by itself (so no one
playing with it)

For instance I run a game, and go away from pc, game running, then after
some time, e.g. 5 min
the x11 is gonee completely

it comes from mednafen surely cuz i have no issue with my system, running
openbox...

Would you have some clues?
I means not good cuz it does leave any changes to listen music out

Kind regards, thanks
Y.

It should work by default, I just tried with no configuration and I
 get sound.

Could you open a terminal and run the following command?

  mednafen {your ROM} mednafen.log

(replacing {your ROM} with the path to the ROM file you wish to run)
and send the resulting mednafen.log, along with your
~/.mednafen/mednafen.cfg file, in reply to this email?

 Thanks in advance,

 Stephen

It might be possible to restore the sound just by running
sudo alsactl restore
rather than rebooting.

Unfortunately not, perhaps your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file might have
some clues... I'll see if leaving Mednafen running unattended has the
same effect on my machine.

sorry but it is not a solutions which is possible or acceptable. I cannot
give sudo rights to the users, nor even the root password . sorry ... :(
would you have other alternative if it is possible ?

thanks a lot for your help and developments of mednafen

I didn't mean it as a general solution to the problem, rather as a way
to test the sound again without rebooting. If this does restore the
sound it would also give an indication as to what is going wrong...

thanks a lot for your help and developments of mednafen

You're welcome! I don't have much to do with the development of
Mednafen beyond packaging it though ;-).

Stephen
