Bug#611554: Ark no longer allows to "Open with" a suitable application

2015-01-20 Thread Ldten K
The fix has been fixed and released upstream as a part of KDE Applications
v14.12 on December 17, 2014. Is it realistic to expect that the fix will be
backported to wheezy? Thanks

Bug#611554: Ark no longer allows to "Open with" a suitable application

2014-10-26 Thread Ldten K
It looks like the patch has been applied to the KDE master branch, see
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=179066 .

Please apply the patch to wheezy (backports?) so the issue can be finally
resolved. Thanks

I rarely use Dolphin, I prefer Konqueror. Anyway, I don't think it works in
Dolphin, I tried
it and Dolphin uses Ark to open "rar" files, for example. And Ark launched from
Dolphin has
the same problem with "Open with".

The patch may not be perfect but the way I see it it's certainly better than
not having that
functionality at all.

Thanks

That functionality is currently available in dolphin, setting Open archives as
folder in the Navigation section of the settings window. Also, the patch was
reviewed [1] by upstream developers and pointed out a number of "issues".

I don't think it's a good idea to apply this patch for Debian, as long as
upstream developers don't accept it. On the other hand, please, if you have
the time to check the issues that upstream pointed out it would be a great
improvement to ark.

Package: ark
Version: 4:4.8.4-2

I can confirm that the bug still exists in wheezy. It also appears that a patch
has been suggested to Ark/KDE developers by one of the users but KDE developers
are not responsive.

This bug has been open for five(!) years and it doesn't look like it's going to
be fixed any time soon by KDE. Maybe Debian could apply the path to its
internal sources without waiting for KDE? Thanks

Hi,

I mark the bug as transmitted upstream, so we can automatically follow the bug
on the Debian BTS.

Bug#611554: Ark no longer allows to "Open with" a suitable application

2011-01-30 Thread S D
Package: ark
Version: 4:4.4.5-1

Ark no longer allows to "Open with" a suitable application.

This is a very bad functionality degradation in KDE4. It makes Ark pretty much
useless in Squeeze.

I know it's an upstream bug ( https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=179066 ) but
maybe Debian could do something about it? Please?
