Hi,
after a long time of searching I found the program which is responsible for
this problem: /usr/bin/grpck (from package passwd)
The command 'grpck -s' removes any NIS-related lines (lines starting with '+')
from /etc/group file without any notification (neither a message nor a return
state different from 0)
Because both commands (adding the nis lines to /etc/group and also sorting
/etc/group) are part of cron jobs it was difficult to find.
Sorry for the false alarm.
I'll create a separate Bug report for the passwd package.
Cheers, Christian
