Bug#628125: Can not install 6.0.1 on PC Sempron 2600

2011-06-08 Thread jastra

Good Afternoon,

I have replaced processor and i have passed installation of base
system from CD1 of Debian 6.0.1

However, when I have tried Debian LiveCD it hangs with "corruped kernel
image" message.

In general: thanks Your advice, I have replaced processor first time in my
life and it was nice educational experience. Now I am downloading files
for making system workable and everything seems going well.

Have a nice day :-)
With Best Regards
Barbara Glowacka

It sounds a lot like bad RAM or maybe other hardware. I have seen
Windows

install happily on a machine that couldn't even get past the bogomips
calibration loop on linux. Replaced the CPU and the machine worked
fine.

Windows installed and ran (although crashed frequently, although the
owner of the machine didn't think that was unusual for some reason).

Software only segfaults if it has a major bug (in which case it
segfaults

consistently in most cases), or if the ram or cpu is corrupting memory
(which I suspect is what you are seeing).
