Kurt: it's been 7 months without an answer from you on this issue; I'm then hereby downgrading this bug under RC severity and tagging it as `moreinfo`. Please remove the tag and rise the severity back up if you can reproduce this bug with the apt currently in experimental (or even better it it was solved since then, close it).
