Package: gdm3 Version: 3.0.4-4 Followup-For: Bug #637142 This seemed to happen right after I changed my desktop background using image viewer 3.2.2 so it's possible it might be related. I had 3 .ICEauthority files
.ICEauthority .ICEauthority-c .ICEauthority-l I removed them and rebooted and the error was gone. Using service "gdm3 stop" and service "gdm3 start" and ran a few tests I replace the newly created .ICEauthority (-c and -l where not recreated after boot) with old copy and gdm3 would still start fine. I then added in .ICEauthority-c and .ICEauthority-l back into /var/lib/gdm3 and the problem came back. I then removed only .ICEauthority-l and the problem went away but when gnome started my background looked like a bunch of pixels which made me think maybe it was related with the background change. I then rebooted and the problem was gone and my background was normal. Looking in the directly it appears .ICEauthoirty-c was deleted and now I only have the original .ICEauthority file which using diff now says is different after reboot. Bug #648666 might fix this but it appears they might only remove .ICEauthority.
