Bug#644119: xorg uses over 40% to 90% just doing basic things.

2011-10-02 Thread macarthur
Package: xorg
Version: 1:7.6+8
Severity: important

Whilst using Firefox or any other application, xorg now uses over 40% of the
CPU. Also when starting up it sits there constantly using CPU cycles whereas
before it never peaked above 10%. This has only happened since I updated to the
latest version of xorg, and the Nvidia driver. This happens in firefox when
opening a new tab, when a new notification is given, and other of a dozen
things.

I was hesitant to updating xorg or nvidia since the last time I went back a
version, I ended up with stability issues, and it seems like this is another of
those. And it was too late to go back. It's happening when opening up a new tab
in firefox, when opening a new document in libreoffice, when getting a
notification from libnotify, or other things that use new redraws of windows.
