Since LI is quiet these days, you are in the #1 position to make a new upload. It is DMUA. If you have problem uploading, I can sponsor it. (Please note I do not know nor I checked if the proposed pach is the right one. Thus I am a bit uncomfortable taking too much responsibility on this package.) Typical implementation is to fallback to an internal buffer remembering the previous key. Although such buffer is lost when cursor is moved, it can serve input sequence filtering for individual text chunks.
