It seems that b43-lpphy is no longer needed, according to:
http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43#Supported_devices

Dick, can you just install b43-fwcutter package and extract b43
firmware according to:
http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43#Supported_devices

If your WiFi work then, I'd like to help in updating the b43-fwcutter
source package accordingly.

on my lenovo G550

the installer tells me that I Can't use firmware-b43-installer as I have the
low power version
But this doesn't work it cuts out randomly and fails to connect

when I used fedora it used the full version of the firmware
