Bug#681656: Detect Network Hardware stops Wheezy install

2012-08-19 Thread ricky...@libero.it
Sorry for my bad english...
I've the same problem, which DIDN'T appear in the ALPHA release. This bug is
shown only in the BETA WHEEZY release.
If there is a non-free firmware, the installer stopped the installation.
A solution can be insert a USB pendrive with the firmwares, it works for me.

Please, solve this bug, it's very important in my opinion.

Bug#681656: Detect Network Hardware stops Wheezy install

2012-08-10 Thread Stefan Nagy
I tried daily build images and want to confirm what Brian Potkin says in
Message #46 of bug #683849:

http://d-i.debian.org/daily-images/amd64/daily/netboot/mini.iso
This image just works. The missing firmware is properly detected,
displayed and installed.

http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/daily-builds/sid_d-i/current/ia64/iso-cd/debian-testing-ia64-netinst.iso
Here the missing firmware is detected and displayed, but not installed.
When I provide a USB stick with the firmware and tell the installer to
go ahead after a few seconds I get the same screen again.

BTW, I'd also say that this is a duplicate of #683849.

Bug#681656: Detect Network Hardware stops Wheezy install

2012-08-06 Thread Stefan Nagy

I tried to install beta 1 now – this bug is still present:
http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/wheezy_di_beta1/amd64/iso-dvd/debian-wheezy-DI-b1-amd64-DVD-1.iso

The workaround mentioned in Message #35 works for me.

Cheers,
Stefan.

Probably a (non-free) firmware issue?

please wait a few days until beta 1 is out, and try with that image.
There's a new kernel in there, even though I'm not sure it's going to
fix your issue.

Bug#681656: Detect Network Hardware stops Wheezy install

2012-07-15 Thread David Smith
Package: debian-installer
Version: 20120508

Just grabbed this ISO image:

debian-wheezy-DI-b1-i386-kde-CD-1.jigdo

Which is dated 15-JUL-2012 via Jigdo (verified Checksum as ok)

System is currently running Lenny (oldstable) and I'm planning on wiping it
and installing Wheezy...

However, the Wheezy installer stops at Detecting Network Hardware.. The
mouse cursor can freely move around the screen and it looks like the
installer doesn't try to detect any network hardware (no progress bar!).

Here are 3 screenshots..

Not sure what to do from here as there doesn't seem to be any way to
continue the install.
