Bug#700391: network-manager-gnome: nm-applet icon still shows connected also hw wifi switch is enabled or wifi is disabled in applet

2013-02-12 Thread Johan Kröckel
Package: network-manager-gnome
Version: 0.9.7.997-1
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

When disconnect by enabling the hardware wifi switch or the software switch in
the applet the icon of the applet still shows the 'connected' state (connection
bars). It changes to 'disconnected' state for a short time when I reenable the
switch, just before the 'connecting' icon appears.

Bug#700391: [Pkg-utopia-maintainers] Bug#700391: network-manager-gnome: nm-applet icon still shows connected also hw wifi switch is enabled or wifi is disabled in applet

2013-05-06 Thread Michael Biebl
[please *always* CC the bug report]

Hi Johan,

your screenshot indicates that this is actually a problem in gnome-shell
and I can reproduce the problem with GNOME 3.4 (when disabling the
device, it is still listed as connected).
It works fine with nm-applet though (you can test that in the GNOME
fallback/classic session).

Can you please verify, that nm-applet(network-manager-gnome) actually
works correctly. If so, I will re-assign the bug to gnome-shell.
It might need some adjustments for network-manager 0.9.8.

Michael

Upstream just pointed me to this patch [1] for NM which is supposed to
fix the issue without having to change the GNOME Shell code.
Will apply the patch and provide updated packages. Would be great if you
can test them, before I upload them to unstable.

Michael

What's the state according to nm-tool?
Could you also get me a debug log of NetworkManager [1] and maybe your
/etc/network/interfaces file.

Michael
