Bug#708245: backuppc: Upgrade from squeeze : backup fails with "Failed to create directory"

2015-08-11 Thread Ludovic Drolez
Hello,

After searching for this error in the source code, it seems that
the directory name is printed after the error message. So if no
directory is found after this error, it's because TopDir is not
defined in the configuration file.
So I close this bug.

Regards,

Agreed; I'm downgrading the bug on these grounds. I'll monitor our
upcoming upgrade of BackupPC to Wheezy and report back then.

Cheers,
Thijs

Bug#708245: backuppc: Upgrade from squeeze : backup fails with "Failed to create directory"

2013-06-04 Thread Ben Armstrong
Package: backuppc
Followup-For: Bug #708245

The bug filer hasn't provided the requested info in over two weeks. If TopDir
wasn't defined, how would that happen? Failure to update the config from an
a version created by an even older release? User error? Something else?

My backuppc upgrade from squeeze to wheezy did not have this problem, that I
can recall. If the issue does not affect all users, shouldn't this be
downgraded from grave to important? As it stands, backuppc is on the
"Candidates for removal from testing (2013-06-04)" due to this bug's severity
(see <51add842.9090...@thykier.net>).

Thanks,
Ben

Check that TopDir is defined in your config.pl.

Bug#708245: backuppc: Upgrade from squeeze : backup fails with "Failed to create directory"

2013-05-14 Thread Jonathan Schaeffer
Package: backuppc
Version: 3.2.1-4
Severity: grave
Tags: upstream
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

when upgrading from squeeze to wheezy, no backup will happen.
The error on the backupped host's logfile is "Failed to create directory"

I could not find any permission problem. To solve this issue, I installed
backuppc 3.3.0 from upstream.

A similar problem has been reported on Gentoo forums
(http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-905362-view-previous.html?sid=0b8ffe34b64b81a18e6f14ffe4673167)
but I could not find more valuable data on the iternet.

Regards,

Jonathan Schaeffer
