Any joy with this. Creating another queue without deleting the existing
one is another route,

There is also OdyX's query to reply to. The more information we have,
the better.

Regards,

Brian.

This indeed may resolve the issue, but I'm unsure what other effect
this may have and whether it is sufficient to regard the bug itself
as resolved. I'm accessing localhost:631 on Wheezy and the setting
of default options presents no problem.

Deleting and recreating the print queue is something to try.

Thank you.

For completeness I'll add these two URLS:

   http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.printing.cups.general/30510

and

   http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.printing.cups.general/30571

(The full functionality of cups.org is not available at present,
otherwise I would point there).

I can't reproduce this behaviour over localhost:631 on 1.6.2. As I can see
from the logs you sent, you are accessing the cups webinterface from a remote
machine using the root user, right?

Does it work if you try to do the same with a non-root user member of the
lpadmin group ?

Thanks in advance, cheers,

OdyX

Thank you for your report, WforumW.

Please post a detailed error_log:

1. cupsctl --debug-logging

2. echo '' > /var/log/cups/error_log

3. service cups restart

4. Then use the web interface to alter the default options,

Also post /etc/cups/cupsd.conf, /etc/cups/cups-files.conf and some
information about your printer and its connection. printers.conf in
/etc/cups might help with the latter.

Even though you get the 'Broken pipe' message are any of the changes you
make implemented?

Only one portion of the web interface is affected and there are other
ways of altering the default options. This does not look like a bug
which has a major effect on the package. It seems to fall more in the
category of 'normal'.
