Indeed, I wanted to reinstall kdm and see if I can reproduce it,
but since I am now fully happy with lightdm and lxde, I never ame
around it.

Hi Norbert! As this bug has been deemed unreproducible and we had no news from 
you in almost two months ([0] was the last time we asked for more details 
without your reply) I'm downgrading this bug to important.

I'll also close this bug in around two weeks if you can't provide more 
information, but as Maxy said, it seems a problem with your dbus installation.

Of course if you can still reproduce this bug and provide the necessary info 
please send it to this bug report.

The log section you pasted suggests that there is a problem with the dbus daemon
on your system or that kde can't connect to it. Please check if you have
dbus-daemon --system running, which should be started by /etc/init.d/dbus

And it should be listening in /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket (please check
this with lsof).
