Bug#728737: grub-probe: no partitions and filesystems detected on dmraid-device

2013-12-11 Thread mtths
Package: grub-common
Version: 2.00-21
Followup-For: Bug #728737

Dear Maintainer,

the version of grub-probe is 2.00-21.
The attached file grub-probe-fs.out.pdc_bcbc3 contains the ouput when
running on the problematic device.
grub-probe-fs.out.sda4 contains the ouput when running on a correct detected
device (just to compare).

Thanks for your report. Could you please run this command with 2.00-*
(tell me which version) and attach the resulting grub-probe-fs.out file
to this bug report?

Bug#728737: grub-probe: no partitions and filesystems detected on dmraid-device

2013-11-04 Thread mtths
Package: grub-common
Version: 2.00-19
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
using update-grub to generate grub.cfg the following error happens:
grub-probe: error: unknown filesystem.
and an existing Windows installation on /dev/mapper/pdc_bcbc3 is not
detected fully (see grub.cfg: missing insmod for part_msdos and ntfs).

The problem seems to be the failing of (cf. /usr/share/grub/grub-mkconfig_lib):
grub-probe -t partmap -d /dev/mapper/pdc_bcbc3 # = no / empty result
grub-probe -t fs -d /dev/mapper/pdc_bcbc3 # = unknown filesystem
(On the other hand, the same works fine on a different disk (e. g. /dev/sda4).)

Downgrading to grub version 1.99-27+deb7u2 solves the problem.
