Bug#731148: imagemagick: spurious black rectangle in image generated by "import -window root"

2013-12-02 Thread Vincent Lefevre
Package: imagemagick
Version: 8:6.7.7.10-6
Severity: normal

I have the following shortcut in my fvwm config:

Key r A CM Exec import -window root HOME/screenshot.png

and I took a screenshot with it. But a black rectangle appears on
the image (see attached file). This black rectangle corresponds to
the position of an xterm window that was below the other windows.

Control: retitle -1 imagemagick: "import -window root" image can show windows
that are behind the other ones

Not just a black rectangle, but the screenshot can also show a window
that is actually behind the other ones (i.e. a window that should be
completely invisible). I've added:

Key g A CM Exec gnome-screenshot

so that I could take a screenshot with imagemagick and another one
with gnome-screenshot, and only the imagemagick one is buggy.

Code as not changed since the 90's so I will suspect X/X
driver/desktop in this case.
