What seems to be happening:
In the cases where the system boots correctly the mdadm volume is
created then a partition table is found.
In the cases where the system fails to boot the mdadm volume is created
then the kernel says "md126: unknown partition table".
Running the kernel without the "quiet" option makes the problem happen
less frequently.
Some kind of delay needed between creating the volume and checking for
the partition table?
