Bug#739297: python-glpk: import glpk does not work: shared library cannot be found

2014-02-17 Thread Ralf Jung
Package: python-glpk
Version: 0.4.52-1.1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

the glpk module does not work. If I run import glpk, I get

$ python
Python 2.7.6 (default, Jan 11 2014, 14:34:26)
[GCC 4.8.2] on linux2
Type help, copyright, credits or license for more information.
 import glpk
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File stdin, line 1, in module
ImportError: libglpk.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory

I tried re-building the package locally, to no avail.

Kind regards
Ralf

I cannot reproduce this on either jessie or sid. The package there
depends on libglpk.so.36, not on libglpk.so.0.

Most likely, you have an old installation of the python-glpk package
under /usr/local or some other custom location. Can you please verify?

Cheers,
