Bug#743432: libreoffice-gtk: closing calc under gnome with -gtk installed causes gnome session crash
Package: libreoffice-gtk Version: 1:4.3.3-2 Followup-For: Bug #743432 Hi, this bug affects my jessie installation and i tried to investigate the problem a bit. I noticed that Gnome doesn't crash on closing LOCalc when the window is focused before closing it. Therefore there are no crashes, when I close Calc with Ctrl+Q. The strange thing is, that Calc doesn't get the window manager's focus when opened by the import csv dialog. When I open a csv file to have a quick look at it's contents and then click the close button without raising the window first, Gnome crashes and sometimes restarts, sometimes taps out completely with an error screen leaving logging out as the only option. When Calc is launched without any import dialog (e.g. from the Gnome dash) the window gets focused automatically and no crashes on closing happen. I couldn't reproduce crashes by closing other not-focused windows, so there seems to be a problem with libreoffice, although I think that the actual problem ist the window manager that really shouldn't crash on some faulty interaction with an application. Bug#743432: libreoffice-gtk: closing calc under gnome with -gtk installed causes gnome session crash
Package: libreoffice-gtk Version: 1:4.3.3~rc2-1 Followup-For: Bug #743432 Dear Maintainer, once again a new update of testing and a new report... this time I've got a bit of time for deeper testing. rather than running the libreoffice script I've tried to run oosplash directly and soffice.bin directly. the result is that what causes gnome to crash or go close-to-crash is oospash. running libreoffice with gtk theme via soffice.bin is safe and reliable. oosplash with gtk causes issues. everything ok with oosplash if I remove the gtk extension. I've run a session under gdb (with debug symbols downloaded) but I can't see any info even if gnome can't recover from a closed file. everything is ok for gdb. I haven't the time to look into the code currently. sorry.
