Or did this transition break kiwix completely (it has been RC buggy for a while, but we were about to get it fixed two weeks before the xulrunner packages got removed from unstable). Iceweasel seems to be the last survivor: https://packages.debian.org/search?searchon=contentskeywords=xulrunnermode=filenamesuite=experimentalarch=any My guess: probably (and like for Ubuntu), Kiwix needs now to embed xulrunner (and compile it!!!). I don't know if this is easy to copy/paste iceweasel package code. Regards Emmanuel -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? I don't know if this is easy to copy/paste iceweasel package code. Changelog for iceweasel 30.0-1 [1] states that iceweasel is no longer an xulrunner application, so probably kiwix should also consider to move out of xulrunner? But again this is my question I'm not sure about effort involved. Below is line taken from changelog. * xulrunner/moz.build, xulrunner/installer/*.pc.in, xulrunner/confvars.sh, xulrunner/app/xulrunner.js, netwerk/test/unit/test_socks.js, webapprt/gtk2/webapprt.cpp, configure.in, xpcom/glue/standalone/nsXPCOMGlue.cpp: Revert changes that are irrelevant now that Iceweasel is not a xulrunner application. Having a look to other xulrunner depending package might give a clue. In any case, Kiwix needs access to the xulrunner-sdk to be able to compile. Emmanuel I have delayed work on that as I have been waiting for a notice from you about a Kiwix release we can package. @Vasudev: I think we should not try to fix the upstream version we have in Debian unstable with patches etc. We need a new upstream release. @Kelson: can you provide an upstream release within the next 8 weeks? If not, I will request a removal of Kiwix from Debian, until we have some code that works well with latest package situation in Debian unstable. Emmanuel I have delayed work on that as I have been waiting for a notice from you about a Kiwix release we can package. I actually cherry-picked a version already from upstream git. @Vasudev: I think we should not try to fix the upstream version we have in Debian unstable with patches etc. We need a new upstream release. No I didn't fix with patches but I just pulled a git snapshot from upstream which Kelson said is ready for release but blocking because of some minor changes needed to other platforms IIRC. If its okay can you review this?. Also there is couple of problem like Android source included in upstream tarball which I filtered out as Kelson said it will not be dropped from the source. (results in lot of warning noice from dpkg-source) @Kelson: can you provide an upstream release within the next 8 weeks? If not, I will request a removal of Kiwix from Debian, until we have some code that works well with latest package situation in Debian unstable. Yes this is important because we have freeze coming in November and last time we missed it because we couldn't get kiwix in well before freeze and RC bugs during freeze resulted in drop from stable :( -- Vasudev Kamath http://copyninja.info Connect on ~friendica: copyni...@samsargika.copyninja.info IRC nick: copyninja | vasudev {irc.oftc.net | irc.freenode.net} GPG Key: C517 C25D E408 759D 98A4 C96B 6C8F 74AE 8770 0B7E signature.asc Description: PGP signature

That may be a better replacement, as I was pointed out on #752836. Depends on what your package was using xulrunner-dev for. Thanks for heads up I had just prepared new version of kiwix with xulrunner-dev couple of weeks back which was still building. I'm CCing the main developer of kiwix on how package should go ahead. Kelson it looks like the package we are depending on xulrunner-dev is no longer provided, do you know which of above packages we can use?.
