Bug#756054: default to 9050 for Debian package

2014-10-24 Thread Jacob Appelbaum
I've prepared a fix in version 0.1.3-1 - this merges the latest
release and it also includes various packaging fixes. The new version
depends on Tor and it patches TorBirdy to use 9050 rather than 9150.

The package needs review (I'm hoping Lunar^ will review, tag and
upload) but I believe everything will be solved when those three steps
occour.

Please let me know if we need to make other changes!

Bug#756054: default to 9050 for Debian package

2014-08-05 Thread Hans-Christoph Steiner

While I understand that the default port is 9150 because that is what the Tor
Browser Bundle provides, the Tor Browser Bundle is not in Debian, and as far
as I know is not even apt-get'able.

There are two good ways that this could be handled:

1. default to port 9050 on GNU/Linux only
2. change default to 9050 in a patch included in the Debian package

I don't know what is common on other GNU/Linux distros, if tor is not packaged
there, then the second approach makes more sense.

Which reminds me: torbirdy should also Depends: tor so that tor is
automatically installed when people install torbirdy.
