Bug#780245: double-conversion: Please add .symbols file
11.03.2015, 11:21, Sébastien Villemot kirjoitti: As a wishlist item, the package could benefit from getting a ..symbols file added. (this was suggested at https://launchpad.net/bugs/1427677) double-conversion is a C++ library, and maintaining symbols files is usually very tedious for C++ libraries (as acknowledged by Debian Policy in §8.6.4). I agree, although the pkgkde-symbolshelper from pkg-kde-tools does help with handling and updating symbols even with complex C++ libraries, as used in for example the Qt 5 packages. Given that the library is small, that may be manageable though. But it's not clear to me what are the benefits over the shlibs system here; the library does not change very often and has few reverse dependencies. It's a downstream policy to ask for symbols files for the officially supported packages, so I forwarded it to Debian. But in case of double-conversion there might be little benefit indeed. Double-conversion now has a new reverse dependency of qtdeclarative-opensource-src (the version in experimental) which prompted this bug. It's ok to close it as ack, but not needed, or just keep it open as a wishlist item for now. -Timo signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature
