Bug#793429: dgit: importing the whole package history from snapshot.d.o into dgit

2015-07-24 Thread Ian Jackson
Andreas Beckmann writes (Bug#793429: dgit: importing the whole package history
from snapshot.d.o into dgit):
 Package: dgit
 Version: 1.0
 Severity: wishlist

Is there a possibility to import the complete history of a package from
snapshot.d.o into dgit (soemthing like git-import-dscs --debsnap)?

There is nothing stopping a maintainer doing that, and pushing the
result to dgit. (This ought to be done by the maintainer because it
is up to the maintainer what shape the dgit git graph should be.)

(that history may not be linear but a tree or dag ... although that
would probably mean manual postprocessing before the initial push)

There is no requirement for the history to be linear. NMU history has
to be linear.

Ian.
