Bug#803779: gnome-shell: Screen remains on background for minutes after logging in
Package: gdm3 Version: 3.18.0-2 Followup-For: Bug #803779 Dear Maintainer, Some extra information. During the blank screen, I tried to go to the text console with CTRL-ALT-F1. This resulted in the graphical desktop. Apparently it's under CTRL-ALT-F2, because doing that still gives me the desktop and then going back to CTRL-ALT-F1, now does give me the text console. Weird. I get this problem 100% of the time. Bug#803779: gnome-shell: Screen remains on background for minutes after logging in
Package: gnome-shell Version: 3.18.1-1 Followup-For: Bug #803779 Dear Maintainer, I did some more experiments and during the background situation, I noticed: - Pressing Esc directly gives me the normal gnome-shell, but other keys do not - Pressing Space or Enter gives me a menu with the items "Copy", "Paste" and "Show Text". Nothing happens when I click on any of them. But this may reveal what's going on... Is this perhaps gdm3 acting up? If you think so, please reassing the bug to gdm3, if that helps. See this screenshot: http://imgur.com/1xkxnwa - Just waiting a very long time also seems to abort this stuf and just start gnome-shell I hope this helps... Bug#803779: gnome-shell: Screen remains on background for minutes after logging in
Package: gnome-shell Version: 3.18.1-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, Since about a week (I dist-upgrade testing daily), I see a strange effect after logging in from gdm3: (note: it may mean that gdm3 is the package I should be filing the bug for, but I don't know how to determine that, so trying gnome-shell here): after entering my password, the screen shows just the gdm3 background color for minutes (cursor in the center) and then the normal gnome-shell shows up. If I press ESC while it's in this state, I directly get the normal gnome-shell starting up. * What led up to the situation? I upgraded some packages as I do daily. I have no idea which upgrade it caused, but if you like, I can look at which packages were upgraded at which day (but this should be in sync with what went into testing). OK, why not do that right now... I *think* this is the update that caused it, but it may also be one day earlier: Aptitude 0.7.2: log report vr, okt 23 2015 22:49:11 +0200 IMPORTANT: this log only lists intended actions; actions which fail due to dpkg problems may not be completed.
