My initial build test was in stable, and the problem do not occur when
building in unstable.  Perhaps some build dependency need to be
versioned?

In unstable I used debhelper 10.2.2, dh-python 2.20160818, python
2.7.11-2 and python-setuptools 28.0.0-1.  In stable I used debhelper
9.20150101+deb8u2, dh-python 1.2014-2, python 2.7.9-1 and
python-setuptools 5.5.1-1.

I did not see the email you are referring to, it only went to the Debian
bug tracker, so I have not looked at it so far.  I just checked it out
and it look good to me.  But when I try to build it I got this from

I've uploaded a new version addressing, I hope, those issues.   
The new version is rebased on the last debian version in unstable.
Debian patches were removed since no longer needed (more in the
changelog). Changelog now includes "Closes: #"

Regarding the man page, I've composed a new version collecting output
of eyeD3 --help and other documentation of the project: I'll soon write
to upstream to propose merge of this manpage, it is already in the deb.

The url of the upload is still https://mentors.debian.net/package/eyed3

Please also check out the bug reports in Debian.  A new version should
close at least one of them in the d/changelog text.

Another thing, are you in touch with upstream?  The manual page in
debian/eyeD3.1 should probably be pushed upstream.
