The bug is marked as targetted for Firefox 48, so it may take a while
for the resolution to reach Debian. A possible workaround is to remove
fonts-powerline package (purging it). Of course, you can't do that if
you need powerline patching...

I recently reported this bug upstream:

Since this is likely some OS<->Firefox interaction, I figured that
reporting this to Debian as well might not hurt. One particularly
aggravating consequence of this is that lots of fixed-width text
(including renderings of .txt files) comes out as variable-width.

I'd appreciate any leads on ways to troubleshoot/fix this.
