Hi Yaroslav,

Sorry to nag you ... But can you just upload it to sid?
It is one of the last dependencies for vtk removal, and also the vtk
removal blocks some other stuff...

I also think there is no need to wait: Frankly, an upload to sid *can*
only improve things but certainly cannot make openmeegs situation
worse... (and on the bonus side, sid uploads have higher prioties on
the buildds as well, so you'll see sooner the results)

I thought to argue "but we build backports for all debian/ubuntu
releases", but indeed even there libvtk6 is available:

I am waiting on buildd's to build across to see how grave problems on BEs, and
then will look into uploading into unstable with libvtk5 dependency
removed

Bug#822322: openmeeg: please switch to vtk6

2016-05-03 Thread Tobias Frost
Package: src:openmeeg
Followup-For: Bug #822322
Control: retitle -1 openmeeg: please drop B-D alternative on vtk5

Hi Yaroslav,

Thanks for the upload of openmeeg to experimental, and hoping the best that it
"feels well" there as you wrote in #809671 ;-)

However let me reopen this bug and downgrade its severity because of this
changelog entry:

bdepend on vtk6 (allowing vtk5 as alternative) (Closes: #822322)

vtk5 will be removed very soon and vtk6 is even available in jessie,
so this alternative can really go away. It is also bpo safe.

So please just depend on vtk6 and drop the vtk5 entierly.

Many thanks,
