Hello Norbert, thanks for your very quick reaction! :-) I see that you dropped sympytexpackage.pdf from the package: this is understandable, in order to remove the serious issue for the time being. Needless to say, I really hope the author of sympytexpackage may be persuaded to re-license the documentation under the same license as the rest of sympytexpackage (GNU GPL v2 or later). I think that having documentation under the same terms as the executable code is important, especially in the case of TeX literate programming that mixes the two parts so much... Once the re-licensing is done, sympytexpackage.pdf will be reintroduced into the Debian package, I suppose. Thanks again. Bye. -- http://www.inventati.org/frx/ There's not a second to spare! Hi Francesco, > The Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike v3.0 license Indeed, thanks. I have contacted the author as well as TeX Live upstream. Either it will be relicened or we remove it from TeX Live (upstream) and then also from Debian. Thanks Norbert PREINING, Norbert http://www.preining.info JAIST, Japan TeX Live & Debian Developer GPG: 0x860CDC13 fp: F7D8 A928 26E3 16A1 9FA0 ACF0 6CAC A448 860C DC13
Bug#824068: sympytexpackage: documentation is non-free
Package: texlive-math-extra Version: 2015.20160320-1 Severity: serious Justification: Policy 2.2.1 Hello and thanks for maintaining TeX Live in Debian! I noticed that binary package texlive-math-extra includes, among other LaTeX packages, sympytexpackage. This is very useful, thanks for including it! However, there's a licensing issue: although the sympytexpackage LaTeX package and associated Python module are distributed under the terms of the GNU GPL v2 or later, the documentation for sympytexpackage is distributed under the terms of the CC-by-sa-nc v3.0, as explained at the end of /usr/share/doc/texlive-doc/latex/sympytexpackage/README and in section 7 of /usr/share/doc/texlive-doc/latex/sympytexpackage/sympytexpackage.pdf The Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike v3.0 license is not acceptable for Debian main. Please persuade the sympytexpackage author (Tim Molteno) to re-license the documentation under the same terms as the rest of the sympytexpackage LaTeX package (GNU GPL v2 or later). If this attempt fails, please drop the non-free documentation from the Debian package (of course, I would strongly prefer seeing the documenation re-licensed under DFSG-free terms, rather than dropped!). Thanks for your time! Bye.
