gtksink does show on gst-inspect

That library does not appear but gst-inspect says gtksink is inside
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gstreamer-1.0/libgstgtk.so

What happens if you run "gst-inspect-1.0 gtksink"? gst-inspect-1.0 is
in gstreamer1.0-tools

Do you have /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gstreamer-1.0/libgstgtksink.so?

I am running with a clean and new Jessie installation, no multimedia repos and
I get the exact same error.

I tried installing and running pitivi on another box that runs Debian Stretch,
same exact error, also no multimedia repo.

You have gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad from Debian Multimedia installed. Try
with the official Debian packages instead, they contain the GStreamer
GTK integration.

Bug#825150: pitivi: hard dependency is unmet -- gstgtk

2016-05-24 Thread Nick Coleman
Package: pitivi
Version: 0.95-1+b1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Pitivi crashes on start with an unmet hard dependency, making the
package unusable. The error message is:

ERROR - The following hard dependencies are unmet:
==
- gstgtk not found on the system
Missing soft dependency:
- pycanberra not found on the system
-> enables sound notifications when rendering is complete
Missing soft dependency:
- GnomeDesktop not found on the system
-> file thumbnails provided by GNOME's thumbnailers
Missing soft dependency:
- Notify not found on the system
-> enables visual notifications when rendering is complete

As far as I can tell, there is no gstgtk package (or anything with a similar
name including libXXX variations) available in sid to meet the dependency.
