Bug#829403: tlp: screen flickers every 2-10 seconds

2016-07-04 Thread Thomas Koch
Hi,

the T560 doesn't contain radeon graphics, so there's no point in trying
RADEON* settings.

The flickering occurs on battery power only? Then try to disable ALPM [1]:

>  SATA_LINKPWR_ON_BAT=max_performance

Please provide the full output of (as root)

> tlp-stat

Hi,

Thank you for your bug report.

As suggested in [1], did you set the kernel boot option "radeon.dpm=1"
when you tried changing DPM_STATE_ settings to "performance" ?

[1] http://linrunner.de/en/tlp/docs/tlp-configuration.html#radeon

Also, do you use the free Radeon driver or fglrx ? AFAIK, TLP works only
with the free driver (and besides, fglrx had a history of problems
regarding power management, and has been removed from sid anyway because
it's not maintained upstream anymore).

If your problem persists despite of these suggestions, I'll forward the
bug upstream. Keep me informed !

Regards,

Bug#829403: tlp: screen flickers every 2-10 seconds

2016-07-02 Thread Maria
Package: tlp
Version: 0.8-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

having tlp installed on this Thinkpad T560 makes my screen flicker every few to
10 seconds. It is annoying in a way which makes it unusable. I tried changing
the settings to
RADEON_POWER_PROFILE_ON_AC=default
RADEON_POWER_PROFILE_ON_BAT=default
RADEON_DPM_STATE_ON_AC=performance
RADEON_DPM_STATE_ON_BAT=performance
running tlp start afterwards. It did not change anything.

I expect it not to flicker.

Thanks for your work and help.
Maria
