I see that the PR was merged, is a fix for the Debian package in the works?

pandas and its reverse dependencies are still marked for removal from
testing on January 5th, which is also the date for the Soft Freeze after
which removed packages won't be allowed back into testing.

No having pandas and geopandas in stretch would be sad.

this particular one iirc is due to a bug in pandas, which was fixed but
build on i386 fails for other reason due to PyTables [1], which I will
ask to be included in debian package after (re)solution accepted

 ValueError: I/O operation on closed file

Is work in progress to fix this issue on i386 too?
