I just updated the package to the latest upstream version.
The updated package should be on mentors.d.n.

Upstream released a new version, so I updated the package again.

This traded a local patch (for test failures) with another one,
which I already sent back upstream :

  https://github.com/chneukirchen/xe/pull/3

Moreover, the package is now uploaded to mentors.d.n.
Thanks to olasd and wRAR to help me figure out why dput-ing to mentors failed.

Done. I also pushed the package repository to alioth, in collab-maint:

  https://anonscm.debian.org/git/collab-maint/xe.git/

I will push and upload an updated version of the package momentarily,
that includes the latest upstream release (v0.7.0).

Regarding the package's name, as I said in the other bugs, I do not
believe it is appropriate to rename the package and binary as it would
create even more confusion.

Hello,

I think that we should not talk about a replacement as listed in the
subject but about an alternative.

Also, binaries shorter than three chars should be avoided IIRC

Bug#862114: RFS: xe/0.6.1-1 [ITP] -- simple xargs and apply replacement

2017-05-08 Thread Nicolas Braud-Santoni
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: wishlist

Dear mentors,

I'm looking for a sponsor for my package `xe`:

* Package name: xe
  Version : 0.7.0
  Upstream Author : Leah Neukirchen
* URL : https://github.com/chneukirchen/xe
* License : CC0
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : simple xargs and apply replacement

xe is a new tool for constructing command lines from file listings or
arguments, which includes the best features of xargs(1) and apply(1).

xe means "execute for every ...".

It provides simple(r) parsing of its input, does not invoke a shell by
default, can execute multiple commands in parallel, ...

Differences with xargs(1) and apply(1) are hilighted on the homepage:

  https://github.com/chneukirchen/xe#benefits

I uploaded the (signed) source and binary packages, and build logs, at

  https://nicolas.braud-santoni.eu/tmp/deb/

Best,

  nicoo
