Bug#880152: flash-kernel: please echo cmdline before starting the kernel

2017-10-29 Thread Adam Borowski
Package: flash-kernel
Version: 3.87
Severity: wishlist

Hi!
It would be nice if you could echo kernel cmdline before passing control.
Currently there's:
echo "Booting Debian from ${devtype} ${devnum}:${partition}..."
I can edit the bootscript myself, but having this by default would help
anyone who sees:

.
Found U-Boot script /boot.scr
3075 bytes read in 17 ms (175.8 KiB/s)
## Executing script at 5000
4883208 bytes read in 191 ms (24.4 MiB/s)
54983 bytes read in 28 ms (1.9 MiB/s)
5465464 bytes read in 204 ms (25.5 MiB/s)
Booting Debian 4.14.0-rc7-01315-g371bf91a0a3f from mmc 0:1...
Kernel image @ 0x4200 [ 0x00 - 0x4a8308 ]
## Flattened Device Tree blob at 4300
Booting using the fdt blob at 0x4300
Loading Ramdisk to 4fac9000, end 4578 ... OK
Loading Device Tree to 4fab8000, end 4fac86c6 ... OK

Starting kernel ...

`
then nothing.

(This particular board uses bootscript.odroid, but this extra line can't
hurt elsewhere.)

Bug#880152: flash-kernel: please echo cmdline before starting the kernel

2017-10-30 Thread eamanu15 .
Hello,
It would be interest have I litle more information when Debian boot.

I have some questions:

* Booting is really quickly, does the user have time to read this line?
What is the advantage?
* Is this information written in any file that the user could read when
Debian is running already?
