Xfce4 very confusingly has multiple different notification applets: * Notification Area: This shows (for me) the keyboard layout (IBus preferences), the Orage calender icon and the Notes icon. * Status Notifier Plugin: This shows the SafeEyes icon and the bluetooth icon. * StatusNotifier Plugin (note the lack of a space in the name): This also shows the SafeEyes icon and the bluetooth icon, only a little larger. Why there should be two different panel applets showing different icons I have no idea; this seems to be a very broken design to me. But at least I can now see all my icons! Best wishes, Julian

Ha ha, good catch! That's half the problem - I've just removed gtk3-engines-xfce, and now the window menu titles are back to something sensible. So the only remaining problem is the icons not appearing in the notification area, and removing gtk3-engines-xfce hasn't helped there, unfortunately. Thanks!! Julian
