Help is always welcome, although in this case it's basically almost
done. I started and SZ Lin (林上智) has finished it, I just need to
review: https://salsa.debian.org/jmtd/smartmontools/merge_requests/1

I'll take a look at that MR this morning, and if it's not immediately
ready for upload I'll ping this bug.
