I am currently going through all the open bugs in tinyproxy. I just
checked the above error report and found that the init script
(debian/tinyproxy.init in the tinyproxy src:pkg) is intact and the
CONFIG var is set to /etc/tinyproxy/tinyproxy.conf.

My suspicion is that your /etc/init.d/tinyproxy conffile did not get
updated to the latest version. The package's init script looks good
here. Also the tinyproxy in stretch has the correct CONFIG path set.

Thus, closing this report.

Bug#901004: tinyproxy conffile moved

2018-06-07 Thread George Taylor
Package: tinyproxy
Version: 1.8.4-2
Severity: Normal

After upgrading to stretch, tinyproxy silently fails to start. This is
due to inconsistencies in references to the configuration file:

tinyproxy_1.8.4-2.debian.tar contains the file 'tinyproxy.maintscript'
which moves the file:
mv_conffile /etc/tinyproxy.conf /etc/tinyproxy/tinyproxy.conf 1.8.4-2~ tinyproxy

But also the file 'init' which still references the old location:
CONFIG=/etc/tinyproxy.conf

Updating CONFIG or adding a symlink causes tinyproxy to run normally again.
