Hi,

more news.

This morning the bluetooth (ever with kernel 4.17.15-1) is missing again.

So I had remembered that when I run an update that calls initramfs, the
bluetooth at the new boot doesn't work, so first I have to do a reboot to
run

update-initramfs -uk all && update-grub2 && grub-install

then reboot again and the bluetooth works.

So I have done the above procedure and the bluetooth has worked again.

But I had a dubt: may the problem with the last kernel be the same?

Again:
- updated the kernel to 4.17.17-1;
- rebooted;
- update-initramfs -uk all && update-grub2 && grub-install;
- rebooted;
- bluetooth works with kernel 4.17.17-1 too.

I had reported a similar bugs (Bug#814508: initramfs-tools: bluetooth/hci
fails) time ago and I think are related, the real problem is initramfs.

Thanks

Bug#906733: linux-image-4.17.0-3-amd64: Lenovo QCA9565 / AR9565 Wireless Network Adapter - Bluetooth fails

2018-08-20 Thread Stefano Callegari

Version: 4.17.15-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I'm one of the "lucky" owner of a Lenovo G50 who have the bluetooth

  Bus 002 Device 005: ID 0cf3:3004 Atheros Communications, Inc. AR3012
Bluetooth 4.0

As reported here https://askubuntu.com/questions/1032417/ubuntu-18-04-lts-
bluetooth-0cf33004-discovery-not-working, "The problem is that Atheros has
released a new ROME device using the same VID/PID as an older AR3012 device.
The codes are [0cf3:3004].", so the last kernel with the bluetooth that is
working fine for me is the linux-image-4.15.0-2-amd64 (4.15.11-1).

In no 4.17 series the bluetooth works (it loads the firmware of the ROME
device) until yesterday morning with the linux-image-4.17.0-3-amd64 (4.17.15-1)
when the bluetooth has worked again.

But yesterday afternoon a new updtate (4.17.17-1) has killed again the
bluetooth.

When I came back to 4.17.15-1, the bluetooth still work again.

Which is the kernel "wrong", the 4.17.15-1 or the 4.17.17-1?

Thanks
