What tbsync-compatible servers are packaged in Debian? The only one I know of is Horde with the ActiveSync plugin and Sogo. More can be found at least at https://github.com/jobisoft/TbSync/wiki/What-is-TbSync%3F How does tbsync compare to xul-ext-sogo-connector? >The list of possible use cases here is mostly longer than for the >proprietary products. So it is compatible with Microsoft Exchange Server. Always? Or only in some specific setup? If you know, why not mention it? Debian users in companies might appreciate that information. But you are right: a readme file or the wiki mentioned above might suffice :-) And yes, I really appreciate that you package this! HS

(Horde?) if you know some FOSS based server TbSync that is also working with this AddOnn I'd say it's absolutely no problem to add them to the list too. The list of possible use cases here is mostly longer than for the proprietary products. So far I know the main intention behind TbSync (and other connectors) was to add the possibility to let Thunderbird and the Lightning AddOn also use some proprietary backends that are unfortunately really common in bigger 'professional' environments. > Also "EAS compatible" is very unspecific, it usually refers to a > minimum and maximum supported version. EAS is a abbreviation for Exchange Actice Sync as you know for sure. So it's very obvious which product is behind that protocol. For the short description of this package the description is absolutely correct. The points you meant is something for the long description and/or some extra Readme file within the package. If you feel uncomfortable with the package description please take some time and provide a patch which could be applied later or at least provide some modified text that the maintainer can later use to improve the package description. Unspecific things like 'this could' or 'this isn't' aren't really helpful, most of the maintainers I know are open for improvements if they are done in a constructive way. Please also note, this here is an ITP report. The meaning is basically to show other people that someone is intended to package a software. I agree mostly on your points, but don't be disappointed if the package will start in package without your points reconsidered. Regards Carsten

Maybe you can add > compatible free software servers? (Horde?) The reason is that you need a connector to be able to use thunderbird even if the server is a non-free one. As i know you can directly connect to a Calendar at Horde. > Also "EAS compatible" is very unspecific, it usually refers to a minimum and > maximum supported version. > >> This package helps to connect to calender and contacts which are >> provided by a >> server named above. >> >> It has a similar functionality to calendar-exchange-provider which >> doesn't work >> any more with thunderbird >=60 >> >> I use it myself. Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Mechtilde * Package name: tbsync Version : 0.7.12 Upstream Author : Name john.biel...@gmx.de * URL : https://github.com/jobisoft/TbSync * License : GPL v3 Programming Lang: Javascript Description : [Thunderbird Add-On] Sync contacts, tasks and calendars to thunderbird. Currently supporting Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) and sabre/dav (CalDAV & CardDAV) Synchronize Exchange ActiveSync accounts (contacts, tasks and calendars) to Thunderbird, supports Office 365, Outlook.com, Freenet, Strato, Hotmail, Kopano and other EAS compatible servers. This package helps to connect to calender and contacts which are provided by a server named above. It has a similar functionality to calendar-exchange-provider which doesn't work any more with thunderbird >=60 I use it myself. I will do the package as I did it with calendar-exchange- provider.
