I'd guess it was xterm-256color (in gnome-terminal), but oddly enough,
now, it works, without changing TERM.

An intermittent bug ? very strange...

Then it works too... but with a different rendering of the GUI, compared
to xterm-256color, it seems... which I find quite strange : what's the
link between TERM and a GTK (?) display of windows ? :-/


Anyway, having searched a bit around, this looks like #899112, so I
guess the next update of Mono will probably solve this.
