Geoff,

Installed your build of 0.21.15 from the link in your email. After
testing for a while, the stuttering after about 4 to 5 second or longer
pause; no longer occurs. Sorry for the late reply, but never received
your email.

Thank You and Be Well,
Michel

I did build 0.21.15 for unstable/amd64:

https://media.kaliko.me/mpd-0.21.15/mpd_0.21.15-1.dsc
https://media.kaliko.me/mpd-0.21.15/mpd_0.21.15-1_amd64.deb

Could you please check if this issue is still present?

Cheers

2019-08-31 Thread Michel
Package: mpd
Version: 0.21.13-1
Followup-For: Bug #939052

Dear Maintainer,

Was about to close the s.d.o mpd webpage[0]. Saw that there was an
intermediate version of mpd 0.21.11. So installed mpd 0.21.11, to check
if the stuttering issue also affects 0.21.11.

Yes, mpd 0.21.11 is also affected with the stuttering issue.

Thank You

Bug#939052: mpd: Stuttering after about 4 to 5 second or longer pause.

2019-08-31 Thread Michel
Package: mpd
Version: 0.21.13-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

After upgrading mpd from 0.21.5-3 to 0.21.13-1. Noticed that, when a
track is paused for at least about 4 to 5 seconds or longer, about split
second to about a second after un-pausing a track get a stutter that
does not reoccur unless the track is paused again for about 4 to 5
seconds or longer.

Looked at ~/.mpd/log does show the following:

Aug 31 11:08 : alsa_output: Decoder is too slow; playing silence to avoid xrun

each time a stutter happens.

After downgrading mpd from 0.21.13-1 back to 0.21.5-3, the stuttering
after about 4 to 5 second or longer pause is gone. And ~/.mpd/log no
longer shows those xrun messages.

I wonder if this is fixed in 0.21.14?

ver 0.21.14 (2019/08/21)
* player
- fix seek position after restarting the decoder

Thank You.
