Thank you very much, Sven. That helps a lot.

I just uploaded 3.16 and pushed everything to salsa. Had to add a small
oneline fix from upstream to get the gfio stuff to build. The patch can
be removed with 3.17+.

Hope that helps for now, didn't do any polishing of typos.

Cheers,

Could not get 3.16 to build right away. So I've uploaded 3.15 for now with
the changes proposed by Helmut. Hope that helps at least a bit until we
can take a look at 3.16 or later.

I intentionally did not close this bug, because we're not yet at the
latest greatest.

Ok as I understand it the upstream part of that one was applied
upstream in May, right?
What is missing is the changes to debian/rules to export the
cross compile variable thingy, correct?

I currently look into this option. Since we set it up on Salsa in the
Debian group, I can update the package. But let me see if it builds here.

Hey, we're all volunteers here, no worries at all!

Ouch. Custom cross-compile?

Thank you as well for the fast reply!

I'll try to take a look at the package itself in the next few weeks, my
time is also limited, and reply to this bug.

thanks!

I have no time to attend to fio at the moment as I am overloaded with
other things and really need to take care of myself now. This will
likely not change for the next at least two weeks, probably longer.

However… I upgraded the packaging repo for 3.15 quite some time ago
already¹. I did not ask Sven Hoexter, my sponsor, to upload it
immediately cause I was waiting for a merge request regarding:

fio FTCBFS: builds for the build architecture

https://bugs.debian.org/929579

>From here there are several options:

1) Sven or you review the fio 3.15 package and upload it. In case there
are any fixes, please not tough, that I may not have time to apply them
at the moment.

2) You can also update it to fio 3.16 and upload that. I would be okay
with an NMU.

3) You build the fio 3.15 package yourself or I can make the packages I
build available to you.

If 3.15 would be enough for now, I think option 1 would be a good way to
go.

Thank you for your understanding.

Bug#942537: Please package newer version

2019-10-17 Thread Iustin Pop
Package: fio
Version: 3.12-2
Severity: wishlist

I reported earlier this year a bug against fio
(https://github.com/axboe/fio/issues/738) only to find that it was long
fixed upstream, actually. Sid has 3.12, upstream is at 3.16. Could you
please package a newer version?

thanks!
