This is currently happening upstream:
https://github.com/obsproject/obs-studio/pull/3182

So I guess the chances are high we'll see it in Debian after an
upstream release.

Cheers,

Bug#960342: obs-plugins: Please include v4lsink plugin for video loopback under linux

2020-05-11 Thread Michael Gebetsroither
Package: obs-plugins
Version: 25.0.3+dfsg1-2
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

Please include the v4lsink plugin for video loopback under linux.

It would be awesome to have out-of-the box support for a greenscreen
working with a normal webcam and consumeable by the various video
conferencing software, eg. bigbluebutton or jitsy running in a browser.
(without needed expensive external hardware for framegrabbing).

With the v4l2sink obs module and the already included kernel module
v4l2loopback-dkms, this works on current debian testing without any
problems.

I tested it with both a logitech c930 and the internal webcam and after
building and installing the obs plugin manually it worked without
problems.

obs-v4l2sink plugin: https://github.com/CatxFish/obs-v4l2sink

also required is the v4l2loopback kernel module, but that's just a
apt install v4l2loopback-dkms away in debian testing.

greets,
gebi
