Basic purpose:
Email discussion channel for Rust in Debian.

(Secundaire purpose:
  Preventing that humans get flooded
by all the automatic emails from builds and such)

Interested audience:
People interested in Rust and Debian
plus the overlap they both have.

Reporting myself for moderator duty. :-)
E-mail address: stapp...@stappers.nl
so others wanting to help with this
don't feel the hurdle of having a @debian.org address.

Wednesday september 23th is a meeting in #debian-rust
there I want get consensus for open list versus moderated list

So accept next contact after that monthly meeting.

Meanwhile we, debian-rust team, will check for apetide
on moderation or open list.

Thank you for making it possible.

P.S.
The Cc: to pkg-rust-maintain...@alioth-lists.debian.net
is for asking more moderators.
And a way for voting "open list" versus "moderated list"

Please provide us with the information described in
https://www.debian.org/MailingLists/HOWTO_start_list (Description,
Category and so on). Unless you come up with at least 3 moderators we
will create the list as on open list (which we prefer anyhow).

I also support this request. As already said by others the noise level is high,
so although I'm subscribed I only look at it rarely. A mailinglist for human
interaction would be great.

Thanks in advance,

2020-08-26 Thread Wookey
I recently joined the rust team and was surprised to find that they don't have
a debian mailing list.

There are important discussions scattered around bugs and IRC. A
mailing list is necessary for proper technical discussion, and it's
quite right for significant languages/teams to have one.

So, yes please.

I also support this request. Due to the noise I never look at the messages on
pkg-rust-maintainers unless I'm looking for the status of a specific package,
so all human messages are lost.

Hello Listmasters,

The rust packaging team is in need for a mailinglist for human
interaction.

The ML pkg-rust-maintain...@alioth-lists.debian.net is getting more and
more automated traffic due the succes of the team. Downside is the human
messages are flooded. Hence this request.

I volunteering for moderator of debian-r...@lists.debian.org or/and
taking responseblity for this new mailinglist.

If I recall correct is a request from a single person is not enough
for getting an ML created. So I'll share the bugreportnumber
with rust team members and ask for "votes" on this BR.
