Bug#980103: smb4k no more starting
Hello Hans, great that it works. So I suppose, we should and could safely close this bug. This can be achieved by sending the mail to 980103-d...@bugs.debian.org. (I hope this is ok with smb4k maintainers.) Best regards, thank you very much again and stay healthy! Thank you, the same to you. Kind regards, Bernhard

Am Samstag, 6. Februar 2021, 16:31:42 CET schrieb Bernhard Übelacker: Hi Bernhard, this is strange. My last test was about 5 days ago but in the meantime I did several updates. What shall I say: Tested today and everything is working well again. Although smb4k is not starting with the gui, there is the icon in the desktop bar below again and, of course, clicking on it, is starting the gui (just as you mentioned before). The only explanation I havem is that someting in the environment must have changed (remember, it is debian/testing), which fixed this issue. So I suppose, we should and could safely close this bug. Thank you for your help and all your hints. These will help me also to make other issues clearer in the future. Best regards, thank you very much again and stay healthy! Bug#980103: smb4k no more starting
Hello Hans, However, no icon. Smb4k is starting, then crashing. There is also no process running which is named smb4k or similar. Ah, ok, from the description I was under the impression the process is running but not showing a window. So what does it write to the konsole when started from the command line? Is there some output added to dmesg when the process is gone: # dmesg -T | tail Further steps could be to install systemd-coredump and look at the end of the journal when the process is gone - it could contain already a backtrace. # journalctl -e There are several ways to get more or improved information described here: https://wiki.debian.org/HowToGetABacktrace Kind regards, Bernhard

Hello Hans, (please leave the bug address in the CC field to add the information in the bug too.) I did not mean in the taskbar, I meant the systemtray near the clock. Please see the green marks in the picture below. Kind regards, Bernhard Am 06.02.21 um 13:03 schrieb Hans: Am Samstag, 6. Please remember, I am running debian/testing, so maybe it is a problem with some environmemt (newer libs or the change to python3 whatever). Tried to start smb4k with strace, but also got no usefull information. Best regards Hans
Bug#980103: smb4k no more starting
Hello Hans, I had also used smb4k some months/years ago, so I tried to start it now. I also got no entry in the window list, but I got a symbol in the system tray near the clock. It was kind of hidden as there are already plenty icons I had to extend the system tray via the triangle (plasma desktop). Clicking there on the smb4k icon made the main window visible and the entry in the window list appear. Clicking again on that symbol makes the window hide and the entry disappears from the window list. Could you try if this is the issue in your case too? Kind regards, Bernhard

Bug#980103: smb4k no more starting
Package: smb4k Version: 3.0.7-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, I was not running smb4k for several months, but when I tried to start it today, it did not work. Starting from the commandline or using strace got me no valuable output. It is seen, that the smb4k icon shortly appears in the taskbar, then disappears. Tried to install a former version (2.1.1), with same results. Also completely deinstalled and reinstalled smb4k with no success. Same behaviour in LXDE and Plasma5. Checked all dependencies = ok. Is there something known about this issue? Please feel free to ask for more informations.
