I suspect you had a different problem with the same high-level
symptoms. This is a very old bug report against a version of gimp from
Debian 10, but you seem to be using Debian testing/unstable.

libglib2.0-0 version 2.74.0-1 in testing is known to cause gimp to crash.
Version 2.74.0-2 should fix that, and should reach testing today (but
it might be a few hours or days before your mirror receives that version).

If you can reproduce this crash *after* upgrading to libglib2.0-0 version
2.74.0-2, please report it separately so that your bug report has all
the details of the packages you have installed.
