Bug#987116: firmware-iwlwifi: AX20* bluetooth random disconnects
Hi there, for those that have tried the newer version of the firmware and didn't see any improvements, it turns out that you have to **power-cycle** (not just reboot) the machine after installing the newer firmware package. Some users even recommend pulling the laptop battery and letting it sit for a few minutes: https://www.reddit.com/r/debian/comments/x0rfwu/psa_fix_for_ax200_random_bluetooth_headset/ I made a request to the Backports folks for the 20210818-1 version to be backported. This is a major bug in the Debian Stable version, so it would be great if it could be updated there too, but I don't know if the Debian Stable policies would allow that.
Bug#987116: firmware-iwlwifi: AX20* bluetooth random disconnects
Hi everyone, I'm not so sure if this bug is firmware dependent. I've two different PCs, in the same chamber, with the same BT adapter (with intel AX200), and very very close to an LG micro stereo. The older PC has, in two different partitions, Siduction (a Debian Sid derivative with KDE) and Debian Bullseye Stable XFCE (+ Blueman) with latest kernel from backport. Both systems pair very well with stereo: I have not done prolonged texts, but everything seems to work very well and only in certain cases, after reboot, I have to delete the BT profile and recreate it again. In my main pc, with Gnome, the first time I tried the system paired with the stereo, but now, every time I try, the pairing works for an instant, but it stops immediately. It's definitely not a hardware problem, as the system works fine on Windows. I also tried to install latest firmware from Sid, but it still gives the same issue. In conclusion, I think the problem somehow lies with Gnome. :-( Best regards and happy holidays to all! Domenico

I am also getting issues with this hardware but on using the 5GHz wifi. I think it is related to the same issue. Please find my logs here.. https://linux-hardware.org/?probe=d1e0b6ee58 Including a lot of issues in dmesg.. https://linux-hardware.org/?probe=d1e0b6ee58=dmesg It only just started happening today and I am concerned it might be related to the package updates I did today which included several bluetooth related ones.. Upgrade: apt:amd64 (2.2.3, 2.2.4), google-chrome-stable:amd64 (91.0.4472.106-1, 91.0.4472.114-1), *bluetooth:amd64* (5.55-3, 5.55-3.1), libapt-pkg6.0:amd64 (2.2.3, 2.2.4), *bluez-obexd:amd64* (5.55-3, 5.55-3.1), *libbluetooth3:amd64* (5.55-3, 5.55-3.1), apt-transport-https:amd64 (2.2.3, 2.2.4), apt-utils:amd64 (2.2.3, 2.2.4), *bluez:amd64* (5.55-3, 5.55-3.1), libgnutls30:amd64 (3.7.1-3, 3.7.1-5), firefox-esr:amd64 (78.10.0esr-1, 78.11.0esr-1) End-Date: 2021-06-21 22:52:52 Before this there were no errors or issues. Arch users found that the more recent firmware fixes the issue See https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=263040=4 Firmware has been updated on 2021-04-26 https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/commit/?id=fa0efeff4894e36b9c3964376f2c99fae101d147 This firmware version is not available yet on firmware-iwlwifi package On Sun, 18 Apr 2021 00:04:22 +0200 AX20* bluetooth disconnecting from audio devices wrote: > Package: firmware-iwlwifi > Version: 20210315-2 > Severity: important > Tags: upstream > X-Debbugs-Cc: vitr...@gmail.com > > Dear Maintainer, > >* What led up to the situation? > Firmware for intel AX200 and AX201 contains a bug. Package: firmware-iwlwifi Version: 20210315-2 Severity: important Tags: upstream X-Debbugs-Cc: vitr...@gmail.com Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? Firmware for intel AX200 and AX201 contains a bug. Installing the firmware causes random disconencts of bluetooth audio devices. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I didn't check if this could be fixed by downgrading, because foudn no packages. Arch users found that it could be solved downgrading to firmware 20201218 * What was the outcome of this action? * What outcome did you expect instead? The whole situation with logs is discussed here https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=263040 (This is from arch, but exactly as in Debian). There is no solution up to now, as far as I know. -- System Information: Debian Release: bullseye/sid APT prefers testing-security APT policy: (500, 'testing-security'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 5.10.0-6-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU threads) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US:en Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled firmware-iwlwifi depends on no packages. firmware-iwlwifi recommends no packages.
